CONTROVERSIAL HEADFORD MAST REFUSED

An Bord Pleanala has over-ruled its own inspector's recommendation and REFUSED permission for an 18 metre mast in Headford.
The Board states that while it noted comments by the Inspector, it disagreed that certain matters could be overcome by approving the development with conditions.
Vodafone was proposing to build an 18 metre monopole to carry nine antennae and six link dishes close to homes and schools on the main street in Headford.
It was initially refused by Galway county council last October, after attracting huge opposition by locals.
One resident claimed a nearby nursery could be closed down if the mast was erected.
Councillor Sean Canney opposed the mast and says he's delighted with An Bord Pleanala's decision.
