'End of a chapter' as popular Galway pub hands over keys

The owners said they were looking forward to seeing people ‘on the other side of the counter’ thanking their loyal customers
A local Galway pub has said it is the “end of a chapter” as they handed over the keys to their new owners this week.
Niall, Kevin and Zara, the now former owners of The Bridge Bar on Main Square in Mountbellew, gave a heartfelt thank you to its loyal customers who they said they were looking forward to seeing on the other side of the counter now.
They said owning the Bridge Bar has been a “great experience” but that the time has come for them to move and that they are taking with them “many great memories and a genuine appreciation for all the people who made the pub what it is”.
They said: “As we officially hand over the keys to The Bridge Bar, Mountbellew, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who has been part of the journey.
“To our customers, both regulars and those who called in from near and far, thank you for your continued support, loyalty, friendship and the many laughs along the way.”
They also said that a pub is “nothing without its customers” who have “been at the heart of The Bridge Bar”.
They continued: “To all our staff, past and present, a sincere thank you for your hard work, dedication and the part you played in keeping the doors open and the business running. Your contribution has been greatly appreciated.
“To our musicians and entertainers, thank you for the fantastic nights of music, entertainment and craic. You helped create some brilliant memories and brought so much life and atmosphere to the pub.
“To our suppliers, local businesses and tradespeople, thank you for your professionalism, reliability and support throughout the years. It has been a pleasure doing business with you.
“I also want to thank the wider Mountbellew community, local clubs, organisations and everyone who supported the pub through the years. Your support has meant a great deal.
“Finally, I would like to wish the new owners every success as they begin their own chapter at The Bridge Bar. I hope the pub continues to be a place where people come together, enjoy good company and make great memories for many years to come.”
They finished up by saying: “It’s been a pleasure being part of it all. Thank you all once again for your support, friendship and memories. I’ll look forward to enjoying a pint on the other side of the counter. Niall, Kevin & Zara.”
