While there is no planned Galway stops on this year’s route, parts of the county may be lucky enough to see some of the supercars in transit

Hundreds of the top motorcars in the world will hit several towns over the weekend as Cannonball Run 2026 comes to Ireland.

Superbrands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, Aston Martin, Bentley, Maserati and many more will be on show from September 11 to September 14.

The event, which doubles as a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House, supports families whose are receiving specialist care far from home.

While there is no planned Galway stops on this year’s route, parts of the county may be lucky enough to see some of the cars passing through.

Two hundred supercars, hypercars and novelty cars will travel through south and east Galway from Kinvara to Ballinasloe before stopping at Circle K in Athlone on September 12.

The cars will then arrive into Limerick on Saturday, September 12, where their drivers will make a pitstop at Pery Square.

They are expected to arrive at 5pm, and then depart the following morning from the Greyhound track at Dock Road at 10:45am.

It offers people a unique chance to see some of the world’s rarest supercars up close.

Limerick is one stop in its weekend tour, stretching from Friday, September 11, to Monday, September 14.

When the motors arrive onto the city streets – following an afternoon regroup in Bunratty at 3.30pm – there will be a free family festival welcoming the drivers to the finish track.

Following an afternoon regroup in Bunratty at 3.30pm, the cars will arrive into Limerick City from approximately 5pm, where another spectacular free family festival will welcome the drivers to the finish line.

Cannonball drivers and participants themselves are famous for embracing the fun, arriving in elaborate fancy dress costumes adding even more colour to the weekend.

Spectators are encouraged to join in by dressing up themselves, with prizes awarded for the best fancy dress costumes.

Founded by Kildare businessman Alan Bannon, Cannonball delivers an estimated €2.5m economic benefit to the towns and communities it visits each year, while at the same time raising significant funds for Irish children's charities.

As always, the fun gets under way on Friday at the Johnstown Estate in Enfield, Co Meath.

There's a lunch stop at The K Club, and a fuel stop at a garage belonging to event sponsors Circle K, in Kulcullen.

Day one will finish in Tullamore.

Day two, Saturday, kicks off at Athlone, with a lunch stop in the Falls Hotel in Ennistymon.

From there it is onto Bunratty, then Limerick.

Upon leaving Limerick, the drivers will head to Fermoy, then Little Island, before winding up in Kilkenny city centre.
