Yet another jobs boost for Galway
Date Published: 15-Dec-2010
Galway is set for yet another jobs boost this morning with confirmation that a city-based medical devices company is to recruit 115 new staff over the next five years.
Enterprise Minister Batt O’Keeffe will announce the new jobs at the Mervue-based Goodman Medical Ireland Ltd (GMIL), a subsidiary of Goodman Co. Ltd, headquartered in Nagoya, Japan.
GMIL was established in Galway in 2004 for the manufacture and development of Cardiovascular Catheters.
Recruitment for the new positions has already started and this brings the number of new jobs announced for Galway city in the last month to over 460 – a massive shot in the arm, given that they are predominantly high-skilled, high-tech positions.
This week Hewlett Packard announced 105 new jobs at its plant in Ballybrit.
The highly-skilled 105 new jobs at HP are all described as “technical” positions and will be in the areas of data architecture, application development and software engineering.
