UNCERTAINTY OVER JOBS AT GALWAY EASON STORES

Date Published: 24-Aug-2011

There are fears for the future of some jobs at book group Easons, which has 3 stores in Galway.

There are two Eason stores in the city, on one Shop Street and another in the Galway Shopping Centre at the Headford Road.

There is also an Eason Franchise at The Square in Tuam.

Eason is planning a 'store closure' programme which beings next week, but it's unclear what stores will be affected.

Initally, three stores will be affected with the loss of 40 staff, and a further six stores may be affected by the start of October.

The Irish Independent is reporting that the company is seeking 90 job cuts in total.
