THREAT OVER FUNDS FOR LOUGHREA POOL

A Government grant of 1.7 million euro for a proposed swimming pool and leisure complex in Loughrea could be lost, if a replacement partner for the project is not found.

At the monthly meeting of the Town Council last night Mayor of County Galway Mogie Maher said the Government grant was for the proposed venture on the Athenry road.

However he said this had fallen through because of a business partner's withdrawal.
