Pedestrian safety measures planned for Tuam
Galway bay fm newsroom - Several additional pedestrian crossings are to be put in place in Tuam in the coming months
At a recent meeting of the Town Council, Councillor Tom Reilly asked for a pedestrian crossing to be put in place at Dunmore Road near the Valeo plant as a matter of urgency.
Cllr Larry Bane made a similar request for the Shop Street end of the new inner relief road.
Liam Gavin assured councillors that these, as well as a pedestrian crossing on the Bobby Burke road, were currently being planned by Galway County Council.
Mayor Imelda Kelly also called for the repainting of "yellow boxes" to regulate traffic at the lower end of High Street and on the N17 at the entrance to the Corrib Oil filling station.
The County Council official agreed to investigate carrying out this repainting but he declined to put in an additional "yellow box" at the entrance to Tuam Mart.
