Galway gardai are looking for an Audi car with false number plates in connection with the incident

Gardai are investigating two serious incidents of theft outside two Galway hotels pleading with anyone who may have spotted anything to come forward.

The first incident happened at the car park of the Shearwater Hotel in Ballinasloe on July 22 between 7am and 3:30pm where a vehicle was broken into. The lock on the vehicle was drilled to gain access and a number of Dewalt power tools were taken.

Gardai say the stolen tools were all marked with the name ‘Jimmy’ and included: Tri-pod Work Light 18V; De Walt Work Area Light; two hand held work Task Lights; Sds Drill 18 V and a 76Mm Grinder 18V.

A spokesman for gardai told Galway Live: “The owner did not discover the tools missing until he arrived back home. Anyone who may have any information as to the whereabouts of these tools marked ‘Jimmy’ or who may have information are asked to contact Ballinasloe Garda Station on 0909631890 or the Garda confidential line on 1800 666111.”

A week later in Oranmore, a similar incident happened at the car park of the Maldron Hotel between 11pm on July 29 and 8am July 31.

A number of Milwaukee power tools were stolen from a vehicle parked there with gardai looking for a silver Audi with false number plates in connection with that theft.

The garda spokesman added: “Anyone who may have any information on this suspect vehicle and this incident are asked to contact Oranmore Garda Station on 091 388030 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.”

Gardai are also looking for witnesses to a case of criminal damage at a house at An Moinear on the Renmore Rd which took place on July 31 before 5am.

The spokesman told Galway Live: “The windscreen was smashed, and all panels on the car were keyed. Anyone who may have any information or who may have witnessed any person(s) or vehicles acting suspicious in the area are asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091 538000.”

As well as this, Portumna gardai are hunting for the culprits behind another case of criminal damage at a house in St Joseph’s Park in Kilimor.

The owner of the property returned home to discover the front two windows smashed with the incident believed to have happened between 1am and 11am on July 31.

Anyone with any information is being asked to contact Portumna Garda Station on 090 9742060
