Funds proposed for revamp of site near Tuam stadium
Galway bay fm newsroom -
Mayor of Tuam, Eamonn Kitt is proposing that before the Town Council is abolished it should give funds towards an amenity area at ‘Browne’s Field’ beside Tuam Stadium.
In response to a letter from residents in the St Enda’s Avenue, Barrack Street and Liam Mellows areas he suggested a grant of 5 thousand Euro.
However, while other members were supportive some said this figure was excessive as other groups were also seeking funding.
Town Manager Frank Gilmore said if the GAA, who would use the facility before matches as a ‘warming up’ area, came up with firm proposals and signed a lease regarding insurance some funds might be available for making this into an amenity area for the community as well as the GAA.
