A meeting is to be held in the city this Wednesday to discuss legislation on abortion.

The event is organised by the United Left Alliance to mark the twentieth anniversary of the X Case, which held that abortion could be allowed where a mother's life is at risk.

A Private Members' Bill was brought forward last month by ULA TDs and some of the Dáil's technical group, which would legislate for the Supreme Court decision in the X case.

A public meeting to discuss this bill takes place in the Kirwan Theatre at NUIG at 7.30 on Wednesday evening.
