The iconic magazine said it was ‘worth travelling the world for one great meal here’

World famous Vogue Magazine has picked three Galway restaurants branding them some of the best in the world.

The fashion magazine compiled a list of ‘European cities we’d visit just for one great meal’ heavily featuring Galway in their edition.

Vogue Adria, which is a regional edition of the hit publication covering Western Balkan regions such as Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro, also pinpointed their favourite hotel and coffee shop to visit while on their travels to the west.

They said Ard Bia at Nimmos has been “one of the city’s best known addresses for more than two decades” making it a good choice for a relaxed lunch or dinner.

They added that Kai Restaurant works with “local, seasonal ingredients and offers a constantly changing menu” adding that Aniar was also a top choice if opting for a special dinner as the Michelin star restaurant’s menu is “rooted in western Ireland ingredients”

Vogue urged readers to fly over for the Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival in Clarinbridge this September daring them to try some Galway Bay oysters; mussels or even some Connemara lamb while in Galway too.

Coffeewerk + Press also got a shoutout - which is no surprise considering it has recently been named the fifth best coffee spot in Europe - while The Dean was Vogue’s number one choice for accommodation while enjoying all these spots.

Finishing their love-in for the county, they said: “Galway is a city facing the Atlantic, something you can feel as soon as you arrive.

“The Latin Quarter is filled with narrow streets, colorful façades, and pubs where music often spills directly onto the street, while just a few minutes away, the city opens onto the Spanish Arch and Galway Bay.

“Continue along the coast and you will reach Salthill and its long promenade, which is especially beautiful when the fall weather changes several times over the course of a single day.

“For a longer stay, Connemara and the Aran Islands are close enough to incorporate easily into a day trip.”
