Crói return to Róisín Dubh following launch of debut album

Having released their debut album One Step Closer earlier this year, Crói8 return to the Róisín Dubh this Saturday, September 1.
The band are David O’Keefe (guitar), Barry Hurley (vocals/guitar), Maria Keogh (vocals) and flautist Sinéad Bracken. At this gig, the band will also be joined by Dmitry Lazarev (guitar), Stuart Wicke (bass) and Michael O’Connor (backing vocals). Stuart and Michael are solo artists in their own right, and they will open for Crói8 on the night.
David and Barry first met in NUIG in 2004, and started making music together shortly after that. They went on to make an EP as Croi8, but making a full album was always part of the plan.
“We didn’t think too seriously about it for a while,” David says. “But then we thought it would be good to take an image of this music, because it’s a moment in time. It’s very easy to forget about it.”
Croí8’s music is a blend of folk and trad that may appeal to fans of bands like The Waterboys. Adding new members to their live set up will help them realise the big sound they aspire to. One of the tracks on One Step Closer features a choir, so the more people onstage, the better!
Doors 8pm, admission €10.
