Galway senior hurling manager Micheal Donoghue wants players to take their chance

GALWAY and Kilkenny renew their rivalry in round six of the National Hurling League on Saturday evening at Pearse Stadium (5:15pm)
After suffering two defeats to Kilkenny last year in the Leinster senior hurling championship, Micheal Donoghue’s side will be keen to record a victory over their Leinster rivals.
“Every game in Division One is tough. We will prepare for it the same way we have prepared for every other one and look forward to that,” said Galway senior hurling manager Micheal Donoghue.
Galway and Kilkenny both sit on four points after four games in Division One of the National Hurling League.
“There is still two games to play, outside of the group everyone is looking at the table. The constant for us is just going from week to week and see where we are at the end of it,” added Donoghue.
After Galway’s victory over Waterford, Donoghue confirmed that Daithi Burke has picked up a hamstring injury, while Gavin Lee and John Fleming are also sidelined through injury.
“It’s hard going, it’s just unfortunate when you pick up one (injury) because there’s a lot of games in close proximity, you’re going to be out for a while. The medics are working hard, hopefully some of them won’t be far away.”
Twenty nine players have tasted game time for the Tribesmen in the National Hurling League, while nine debutants have featured for Donoghue’s side.
“You can see the lads are enjoying it and hurling well, and there's a nice freedom to it. We got two more knocks with Gavin and Daithi, it just shows the strength we have in the squad and there’s good unity and spirit within the group.
“Everyone recognises and acknowledges when they’ve got the chance, they’ve got to take it,” added the Galway boss.
After this weekend, the Tribesmen will have a two-week break before travelling to the TUS Gaelic Grounds to face Limerick on March 22.
