Busy weekend for Galway hurlers and footballers

Both the Galway footballers and hurlers are in provincial semi-final action this weekend.
The footballers get the show on the road on Saturday when they travel up the N17 to take on Sligo in Markievicz Park (7pm) in the Connacht football semi-final. Mayo await the winners in the Connacht final.
Galway go into that game without the services of Johnny Duane and Eoin Concannon, who were both dropped from the panel last week due to “internal reasons” last week, but manager Alan Mulholland is in upbeat form as he bids to reverse a record which has seen Sligo win two and draw one of the three provincial championship clashes between the sides since 2010.
The following day sees the county’s senior hurlers travel to Tullamore to take on Kilkenny in the Leinster final (4pm), with the victors set to face Dublin in the Leinster final after they overcame the challenge of Wexford at the weekend.
Manager Anthony Cunningham has acknowledged that his charges must return to the form they showcased in 2012 if they are to upset the odds on Sunday (4pm), after a poor display against Laois in the Leinster semi-final saw them just edge past the Midlands side.
