It will bring a big change to weather conditions

Met Eireann has forecast that high pressure will move in over Ireland for the coming days bringing more unsettled weather back into the fold.

Next week will see a continued return to the rain as temperatures will be mild ranging in the low to mid teens alongside the odd occasional spell of sun with the forecaster warning that the weather event will be the first signs of an official goodbye to summer.

Wednesday will start off with a mix of cloud and sunshine with the odd isolated shower as cloud increases throughout the afternoon.

It will become wet and breezy around our side of the country in the evening with temperatures of 18C dropping to 9C overnight.

That wet and breezy weather across Atlantic counties will push away in the nighttime leading to clear spells for the rest of the night but some strong winds at times.

Here’s what Met Eireann is forecasting for the next while:

Tomorrow: “A fresh and breezy day with sunny spells and scattered showers on Thursday. Showers will be most frequent across the west and northwest with parts of the southeast staying dry. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees, in a moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong and gusty along Atlantic coasts.”

Thursday night: “Starting off clear with very isolated showers. Cloud will increase in the southwest early on and continue to spread across the country overnight. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate to fresh west to southwest winds, strong on coasts.”

Friday: “Rather wet and breezy during the morning with widespread rain, heavy at times across west and southwest counties. The rain will ease and clear to the east through the afternoon with showers developing behind. It will remain cloudy and dull for the day. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees, in a moderate, occasionally fresh, southwesterly wind.”

Friday night: “A mix of cloud and clear spells overnight, cloudier to the southwest, with scattered showers spreading from the west. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees, warmest in the south in moderate to fresh southwest winds, strong and gusty along coasts.”
