A city native has been appointed as the new Human Rights Chief in the North.
Professor Michael O' Flaherty, succeeds outgoing Northern Ireland Human Rights Chief Commissioner, Professor Monica McWilliams.
He was ordained as a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Galway in the 1980s but has not exercised priestly ministry since 1992.
Tom Elliott, the current UUP leader, has questioned the appointment of Professor O'Flaherty.
He says he wants to know how much consideration was given to find a local person for the role.
