Nurses reject ballot in Westdoc dispute
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A dispute between Westdoc and former employees is ongoing after Nurses rejected an offer by ballot yesterday. The Irish Midwives and Nurses Organization held a teleconference with the affected nurses yesterday to give consideration to the ballot but decided that it fell short of the claim. The INMO is to seek a further meeting with Westdoc to secure a better offer. The out-of-hours GP service laid off 15 nurses in March after the insurer of the INMO withdrew personal liability cover for the employees concerned. The IMNO argued that the Westdoc nurses could not get insurance cover elsewhere at a reasonable cost.
