MICROBIOLOGIST GIVING EVIDENCE AT SAVITA INQUEST
Consultant Microbiologist Dr. Deirbhile Keady is now giving her witness statement at this afternoon’s inquest proceedings into the death of Savita Halappanavar.
She has been recounting a call received at home where her expert advice was sought in relation to the selection of antibiotics for Ms. Halappanavar.
She has been questioned on blood tests which revealed certain forms of bacteria.
Earlier proceedings concluded with a statement from ICU nurse Jacinta Gately who detailed her involvement in Savita’s care from 27th October when she took a handover to the 28th when Ms. Halappanavar died.
Dr. Keady is the ninth witness to read her statement today before Coroner Dr. Ciaran McLoughlin.
