GALWAY ELECTION CANDIDATES URGED TO PROTECT ARTS SECTOR

Galway Election candidates have been urged to protect the Arts sector and alleviate poverty among arts workers.

Over 90 people working in the world of Theatre, Visual Arts, Literature and Film gathered in the city earlier this afternoon to hear the candidates' views on arts policy.

Among the issues raised were the 20 per cent VAT imposed by the Government on visiting artists to the country, social protection and arts budgets.
