Galway City Hall is re-opening on Monday.

It follows last Friday's explosion which caused extensive damage to the ground floor of the building.

The full range of Council services will be available from Monday and the election of the City's new mayor is to take place in the Council chamber at 6 o'clock that evening.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blast which originated from a waterboiler near the Council's finance department.
