12 GALWAY DELEGATES TO REPRESENT NURSES AT CONFERENCE

12 Galway delegates will take part in the annual conference of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation that gets underway in Kilkenny today.

The 12 delegates, which have been nominated by the Galway INMO branch, will be representing the region, in addition to members of the executive council.The INMO says the recruitment embargo in the health service means thousands of nursing posts have been lost since 2008 - and this is impacting severely on patient care.

It's calling for safer staffing levels, and the introduction of a legally binding nurse to patient ratio.
