UNCERTAIN FUTURE FOR ROUNDSTONE GARDA STATION

Date Published: 17-Oct-2011

Residents of the Connemara village of Roundstone are up in arms at the prospect of losing their local Garda Station.

It's one of the stations mooted for possible closure next Spring under Government cutbacks - but the Garda Press Office has insisted no decision has yet been taken.

Local residents have mobilised a campaign to preserve the station and handed out dozens of petitions outside masses over the weekend.

Member of Roundstone Development Community Council Richard Duke de Stacpoole says locals are supportive of their campaign to save Roundstone Garda station from possible closure.
