TUAM FOOTBALLER CASE SETTLED OUT OF COURT

The case of a Tuam Gaelic footballer who sued a consultant orthopaedic surgeon over the alleged misdiagnosis of an injury has been settled.

Anthony McHugh of Lavally in Tuam brought legal action against Dr Michael O'Sullivan following an injury to his right knee when he was 10.

Mr McHugh - who's now aged 20 - claimed the nature of the injury had been misdiagnosed by the Merlin Park Hospital consultant.

According to today's Irish Times, the case has been settled out of court with no admission of liability.
