‘Three Ways of Seeing’, an exhibition of recent paintings by Noelle Angley, Josephine Boland and Vanya Savov will open at KAVA Courthouse Gallery, Kinvara, next Friday, September 18, at 7pm, for Culture Night.

The show, which will continue until Sunday, September 27, will have an array of paintings exploring the landscape and cultural heritage of Ireland and the Balkans.

Noelle, an architect, and Josephine, who works in education, have a passion for plein air painting and their work captures their love of the outdoors. Psychologist Vanya, meanwhile, is a studio painter whose expressive works are often an emotional response to a scene.

For Noelle, painting en plein air “causes a ‘hyper awareness’ of one’s surroundings, the changing seasonal colours and light, its shapes, forms, occupants and activities. The landscape is a motion picture and you capture a compilation of moments!”

As a painter, Josephine is inspired by the landscapes and seascapes of Ireland's west coast.

“I aim to paint expressively to capture moments of light; in the sea, green fields, mountains and karst landscape,” she says.

Vanya describes herself as “a scientist by mind and an artist by soul . . .an Irish artist with a Balkan soul”. Her work “celebrates the Irish landscape through the physicality of paint – raw, alive, and immediate”.

The exhibition will be introduced by award-winning artist Trish Findlater, on September 18, followed by jazz from the Small Floor Trio from 9pm in the space. This walk-in event is free. The show will continue through Sunday, September 27, 11am-6pm daily. All welcome.
