Spot the future Premiership star!

To those who don’t know how to spot future Premier League stars, the boy in the middle is just another footballing hopeful trying to fill out the jersey.
But that was all of eleven years ago – and last weekend, that same boy, now a Premier League striker, enjoyed a first start with his club that will live long in the memory.
And yet while Aaron Connolly set the football world alight last weekend, the truth is the Castlegar native could have shone in any sport he wanted.
An under-age soccer star with Maree/Oranmore and Mervue United, he was a classy hurler with Castlegar, All-Ireland Féile winner with Claregalway footballers and an All-Ireland Colleges winner with Calasanctius in Oranmore.
His dad Mike, who saw his son bag two goals last weekend on his sensational first start for Brighton, reflected on a day to remember this week.
“He has made a lot of sacrifices to get to where he is at, and we are very proud of him,” he said.
See this week’s Connacht Tribune for a full look-back at Aaron’s early sporting highlights.
