SERIOUS CONCERN OVER LACKAGH SEWERAGE LEAK

Date Published: 25-Jun-2008
A sewerage leak in a housing estate in Lackagh village is posing a serious health hazard for residents. Raw sewerage is seeping through the ground at the Carrig Mor housing estate from the sewerage treatment plant for 48 homes. Council officials have inspected the leak and reported it to the HSE. They fear the problem could escalate if the sewerage gets into the water system. Worried residents held a special meeting with local Cllr Jarlath McDonagh and Senator Fidelma Healy-Eames this week. Cllr McDonagh wants Galway County council to use the builder's bond of 57 thousand euro to repair the sewerage leak.
