Rival company wins advertising complaint against Stira Dunmore
Galway Bay fm newsroom - A complaint about advertising by Dunmore-based company, Stira Folding Attic Stairs Limited was upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland.
The complaint was made by a competing loft stairs company.
The complaint was made in relation to a claim on the Stira website that "all Stira products come with an unbeatable 10 year warranty."
The Loft Stairs Company Limited claimed the advertising to be misleading, saying the 10 warranty is for parts only and not for the cost of labour.
Stira responded by saying that the guarantee relates to one year parts and labour, plus a further nine year, parts only.
The Complaints committee of the ASAI considered that the advertising as it stood was likely to mislead and was in breach of advertising codes.
The advised action is that the advertising by Stira must not appear in the same format again.
