Portiuncula maternity unit yet to publish all statistical data

The Irish Independent reports that Portiuncula is one of eight maternity facilities that has not been making public disclosures through publishing annual reports.

The information examining hospitals nationwide is part of an investigation carried out by the Health Information and Quality Authority following the death of Savita Halappanavar at UHG in 2012.The paper reports that there was no annual obstetric clinical report for the unit in  Portiuncula for 2011 but it would be included in a Group Women and Children's Directorate Annual Clinical Report for 2012.It told HIQA that if a clinical event occurs in the obstetric unit, this is reviewed at an obstetric risk management meeting after which recommendations and any corrective actions are put in place.
