Playing pitches at Millars Lane in the city could be rezoned for residential use in the latest plans for the Knocknacarra Community Centre. City manager Joe McGrath has drafted up plans to rezone 5 and a half acres of land to residential for the Moritz Developer Group, in return for seven and half acres of land from them further north for pitches and a sports centre.Mr McGrath says this will mean a gain of over two acres of recreational land for the community. The manager is also proposing to rezone over 8 acres beside Knocknacarra Retail park from Industrial to Commercial Industrial, which he admits will be a financial gain for the Moritz Group. City councillors last night voted to put the plan before the public and a report on the public's response is to be brought back before the city council in April.
