Planning application to restore Meelick Weir in Eyrecourt
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Waterways Ireland is to submit a planning application to restore the walkway at Meelick Weir in Eyrecourt. An Environmental Impact Assessment and a hydrological study of the weir are currently underway prior to the application. The Weir was built in the 19th century for water management, and was damaged during floods in 2009. Galway East Fine Gael TD Paul Connaughton says the restoration will attract more tourists to the area.
