OUTRAGE OVER CITY COUNCILLOR ELECTION POSTERS IN SALTHILL

Date Published: 27-Apr-2009
There's outrage among city councillors over election posters after a councillor breached the law by putting up a poster in Salthill. Local election candidates are not legally entitled to erect posters until May 6th. Fine Gael cllr John Mulholland however put up his election poster in Salthill for several hours over the weekend in advance of a Fine Gael collection. It was also in breach of a code of conduct agreed by city councillors restricting the number of election posters erected and reducing the areas in which they can be put up, particularly in advance of the Volvo Ocean Race Galway stopover.
