ONE MAN RELEASED IN INVESTIGATION INTO LOUGHREA ASSAULT

One man has been released and 3 men are still being questioned in relation to a serious assault which took place in Loughrea last month. [Sept 30]Gardaí raided 4 houses in the Loughrea area at half 6 this morning and 4 men, aged 18 and 19 were brought to Loughrea and Ballinasloe Garda Stations.The Garda raids follow an attack on a 26 year old man in the early hours of Sunday morning August 30th.The man was making his way to Barrack Street in Loughrea Town when he was assaulted.The injured man was taken to Portiuncala Hospital in Ballinalsloe where he received 20 stitches to his head.One man questioned in relation to the incident has been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.3 other teenagers are still being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
