NUIG seeks expert help in collecting unpaid student fees

NUIG Galway is the latest university to seek assistance with debt collection for unpaid student fees.

The university is now seeking to engage an External Partner to work towards an outsourced solution in relation to fee billing, collections and reporting.

The selected service provider will initially be required to undertake collection of aged debts.

In a statement to Galway Bay fm news, a spokesperson says the university has experienced a reduction in government funding as well as increases in student contribution fees.

This, it states, has resulted in a growing level of student debt which is a new phenomenon within the University.

NUIG is the fourth Irish university to seek the help of outside experts.
