Noise action plan for Galway roads published

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A noise action plan for sections of Galway roads with high volumes of traffic has been published.

The purpose of the plan is to manage environmental noise and is largely dependant on traffic management.

The assessment of noise levels beacuse of traffic sources is required for all major roads with over 3 million vehicle passages per year.

Galway routes include sections of the N59, N6, N17 and N84 and regional routes such as the R336 bearna to Tuam road and R886 eyre square to the Bodkin roundabout.

The 104 page noise action plan 2013-2018 has now been published and is available to view on the city council website or in person at city hall on college road.

It excludes noise from domestic activities, noise created by neighbours and noise at work places.

The implementation plan outlines a proposed programme of works for the period.

It is largely dependant on traffic management and construction projects with the aim to reduce vehicles numbers and to re-distribute traffic on the road network of the City.
