New courthouse to open in Connemara Gaeltacht
Galway Bay fm newsroom - The law will be administered from a new venue in the Connemara Gaeltacht from tomorrow (Sept 12).
District Court Sittings will be held from now on in Clynach in the Carraroe area starting at the earlier time of 10:30am.The Carna Court was discontinued some years ago and the sittings in Spiddal and Derrynea ended in recent months. This led to concerns in the Connemara Gaeltacht that the Court Services for the area would be in Galway City. The new Courthouse setting is in Cladhnach near an Cheathrua Rua in a building which was formerly a funeral home; the funeral home has been moved to another location on the same site.
