NEW BENDS UNIT TO OPEN SOON AT UHG

Divers who suffer the 'bends' off the west of Ireland will be able to use a new €2m recompression unit in Galway, instead of travelling to CorkThe unit, at University Hospital Galway, has been closed since last January, because it was not up to international standards.This means that divers who need treatment had to be flown to the Irish Navy's recompression unit in Cork.The HSE says the new recompression chamber was delivered to University Hospital Galway last month and should be installed early this year.
