MOYCULLEN RESIDENTS LAUNCH SURVEY OF VILLAGE NEEDS

Date Published: 30-Jan-2009

The people of Moycullen most want a new community centre and youth facilities built in their village. That's the finding of the most in-depth polling of public opinion ever undertaken there. Moycullen Community Development Association surveyed over eleven hundred homes in the parish on their views on its social, sporting and cultural needs. A community centre, youth facilities, playground and playing fields ranked in each of the top three replies. 45 per cent of the public would like to see the community centre built in Killarainy Woods in the heart of the village. Chairman of the M-C-D-A, John Power is now calling on public bodies to provide the funding for such facilities.Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Eamon O'Cuiv has given the report his backing and says his department will fund the much-needed facilities.
