MONSTER WAVES EXPECTED TO HIT WEST COAST

Monster waves of up to 45 feet are expected to hit the West coast this weekend. The Oranmore-based Marine Institute and Met Éireann are predicting the waves will be the highest in years.They'll be hazardous to ships and fishing vessels, as well as anybody who might be walking close to the shoreline, or fishing from the shore in exposed areas. The last time waves of this size were recorded was on January 17th, 2005 to the west of Galway Bay when waves of 13.4 metres hit the coast.
