Minister commends Galway community spirit following flooding crisis
Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Minister for Social Protection has commended the people of Galway for their community spirit in rallying together following the flooding of recent weeks.
Joan Burton says significant investment will be needed in rural roads and at piers along the Galway coastline.
She says the impact of such heavy rainfall is a key focus for Government at present with another meeting scheduled at cabinet level on Tuesday.
The Labour Minister says her Department is providing help to struggling families and working with organisations such as St. Vincent De Paul.
While visiting Galway this week she told Galway Bay fm news that the local community should be proud of its resilience following severe flood damage.
