MAN REMAINS IN CUSTODY OVER PORTUMNA FATAL STABBING

A 45 year-old foreign national in custody at Loughrea Garda Station has had his period of detention extended by a further twelve hours. He continues to be questioned by detectives in connection with the death of a 43 year-old man in Portumna in the early hours of this morning.Gardai launched a murder investigation after the man died from stab wounds he received during an altercation at a House on Dominic Street in Portumna between 2.30 and 3.20 am. The man in custody will be either released or charged at 4am tomorrow morning.
