Magnetic attraction to Town Hall

Date Published: 25-Sep-2009
Direct from the Glastonbury festival and Edinburgh festival The Magnets are due in Galway on Monday, October 19, for a show in the Town Hall. Don’t miss this unique and most entertaining of music acts.By combining harmony vocals with beatbox drumming they have taken 'a cappella’ music to a whole new audience and created a sound rivalling that of any band with instruments. In fact, The Magnets have the advantage over any conventional band, they can perform anytime, anywhere there is space for six men to stand and sing! From street corner to arena, just add an audience and let the party begin. From early beginnings busking in London’s Covent Garden, The Magnets turned professional when they signed to EMI in 2000. The group have since toured the world, released three albums and produced hit theatre shows.Career highlights include tours with Tom Jones and Michael Ball appearance on the Proms, Parkinson and GMTV, as well as performances in the Royal Albert Hall and at Buckingham Palace They’ve even played in Elle Macpherson’s living room!On Friday, October 9 The Magnets will be appearing on The Late Late Show. The Galway appearance on Monday, October 19 looks like it’s going to be their only one this year in Ireland ahead of a big tour next year, so it’s a bit of a local coup. Tickets €25 from (091) 569777 or www.tht.ie.
