Legal ownership of Tuam recreational field yet to be established
Galway Bay fm newsroom - Tuam Town Council must legally establish ownership of a field beside Tuam Stadium that it's planning to give to a local residents association for recreation and sporting use.
At its meeting this week the Town Council was told by Acting Director of Services Liam Gavin that it has yet to establish if it has title to the area known as Browne’s Field. The Co Council official told Tuam Town Board that there has been “heresay” knowledge of it having been given to the board by a former member decades ago but initial searches for legal documents had so far failed to show it was registered to them. Liam Gavin added that it will take time to establish if it is owned by the board and the search for legal evidence might even overlap into the new municipal council.Until legal ownership was established he said it would be “unwise” to allow any work to go ahead at Browne’s Field.
