LABOUR CANDIDATE SLAMS THREAT OF WATER CHARGES IN GALWAY

A city Labour councillor has slammed threats of domestic water charges by Environment Minister John Gormley. Galway West local election candidate Cllr Tom Costello was commenting on a remark made by Minister Gormley last week that the re-introduction of domestic water charges was inevitable. Cllr Costello was Mayor of Galway during the Chryptosporidium water crisis and says he developed a long term strategy on the city's water supply. Labour councillors and candidates are planning to oppose any reintroduction of water charges says Cllr Costello.
