GSPCA issues warning over abandonment of animals

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The GSPCA is appealing to the public not to abandon unwanted animals. The call follows the discovery of a box of 3-week-old kittens at a vacant house in South Galway at the weekend. Under the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013, it's an offence to abandon any animal without making adequate provision for its welfare. The GSPCA says it's struggling to rehome the large volume of kittens it rescues, and is appealing for temporary foster homes. Spokesperson Margaret O'Sullivan says the problem highlights the need to neuter pets.
