A major new development to promote academic and research collaboration across the broader community is to be built at NUIGalway.
Planning permission has been granted for a two - three storey Life Course Studies Building at the northern end of the college campus in Newcastle.
The new facility at NUIG is needed to accommodate three existing research centres - Ageing, Children & Family and Disability.
The building will include a 150-seat lecture theatre and will be accessed off Newcastle Road through the existing access road through Corrib Village.
