Gardaí issue warning to gun owners across County

Galway bay fm newsroom - The owners of guns and other firearms across the county who have not renewed their licences are being warned that unless they do so the firearms could be seized by the Gardaí and they may face prosecution.

Every three years those who own firearms must renew their licences at their local Garda station for a fee of €80 for three years. However there has been a significant percentage of people who have not done so this year.Sergeant Joe Cosgrove who is the licensing officer for Tuam says he will deal specifically with queries at Tuam station next Monday between 9am and 5pm.The issue was also raised at a meeting of the Loughrea joint policing committee where Superintendent Enda Walsh said a lot of time was wasted chasing people to renew their licences.
