GALWAY'S UNDER 35'S OUTSAVING OLDER COUNTERPARTS
Galway's under 35s are outsaving their older counterparts.
That's according to the fifth savings barometer compiled by KBC Bank Ireland and Millward Brown.
The study shows that over 21 percent of under 35s in Galway have increased their savings in the last year, a figure that exceeds all other age groups in the region.
The KBC Savings Barometer is carried out quarterly and measures the level of savings among the Irish public and the behaviours of those who do save.
Nationally, it shows that the ability to access funds has grown over time with 77 percent now stating this is the most important feature of a savings account, compared to 67 percent in March 2012.
Two thirds of savers continue to dip in to their savings with unexpected bills being the main reason for doing so for 67 percent of those surveyed.
