GALWAY MOTORISTS ASKED TO RESPECT DISABLED PARKING SPACES

Date Published: 03-Dec-2009

The City Council is asking Galway motorists to show their respect to disabled drivers by not abusing blue badge parking spaces.

An Access Awareness Campaign is being launched in the city today to coincide with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The campaign includes the distribution of leaflets and the display of posters on billboards and bus shelters.

A spokesperson at City Hall said that despite a fine of 80 euro to offending motorists, there is still a consistent abuse of disabled spaces by city drivers.
