GALWAY COUPLE CHARGED WITH CRUELTY AND NEGLECT

A County Galway couple have appeared at a special sitting of Galway District Court this lunchtime.The man and woman - who can't be named for legal reasons - appeared on charges of cruelty and neglect of their children.The man was charged with 10 counts of rape against four daughters.He was also charged with two counts of cruelty and neglect of a son and his wife was charged with 18 counts of cruelty and neglect of her children.Both deny the charges.A Garda spokesperson said the couple were arrested at their County Galway home early this morning and taken to a Garda station.Judge Geoffrey Browne remanded the couple to a special sitting of Ennis District Court on December 29th.
