A definitive cookbook to reduce cancer risk

Who would have thought anything would have knocked cancer off our most feared diseases list?

Well, Covid certainly did and continues to terrify most of us.

And so it should, given its fatality rates and the catalogue of terrifying symptoms it can bring with it in the long term.

But it doesn’t mean cancer has gone away.

While the first lockdown was certainly a shock to the system between the strangeness of isolating within 2km of our homes and homeschooling, this third lockdown brings with it a certain familiarity.

And it seems we are going nowhere anytime soon.

So, if ever there was a time to introduce some good habits it’s now, when outside distractions have never been less, and we have never been so much at home.

The Anti-Cancer Cookbook is the brainchild of two Cork registered dieticians, Dr Aoife Ryan and Dr Éadaoin Ní Bhuachalla, and is the first cookbook to be endorsed by such an array of cancer fighting bodies, including The National Cancer Control Programme and the Irish Society of Medical Oncology.

Aoife explains that they decided to embark on the project because of the avalanche of misleading information that bombards people who are trying to make a conscious effort when it comes to their diet – either to reduce their risk of getting cancer or after they have been diagnosed.
